Ad Serves North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory Rainbow Cake For Birthday

In an ad paid for by Writers for a Progressive North Carolina, North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory is served a rainbow cake for this birthday.

In the ad, a slice of rainbow cake with a candle sits under the words “HB2 U, Pat.”

The full-page ran in the Raleigh News & Observer.

“Governor McCrory, we send you our best wishes today as you celebrate your 60^th birthday,” the ad continues. “But the real celebration will begin November 8^th when North Carolina votes to move in a more progressive direction.”

The ad urges voters to support candidates who will repeal House Bill 2 (HB2), the law approved by Republican leaders and signed by McCrory during a one-day special session in March that targets the LGBT community.

As recent as last week, McCrory defended the law, saying that Caitlyn Jenner must use the men's locker room.
