Standing on Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays will premiere Off Broadway and at over 40 venues next week.

The theatrical event features 9 plays on the subject of gay marriage, each about 10 minutes long. The micro plays were written by Mo Gaffney, Jordan Harrison, Jeffrey Hatcher, Moises Kaufman, Neil LaBute, Wendy MacLeod, Jose Rivera, Paul Rudnick and Doug Wright.

β€œIt's a technical challenge on a lot of levels – you really want to land your points, you want to make your characters as full as possible and as quickly as possible. I enjoy that. There's almost a sort of comedy mathematics to it,” Rudnick (I Hate Hamlet, Jeffrey) told the AP.

The show premieres at the Minetta Lane Theatre in New York City on Monday with a cast that includes Richard Thomas, Craig Bierko, Mark Consuelos, Polly Draper, Harriet Harris and Tony Award-winner Beth Leavel. (A video on the show is embedded in the right panel of this page.)

Over 40 venues nationwide will also premiere the show on the same night. (Check listings for a venue near you.)

A portion of ticket sales will be donated to Freedom to Marry.
