The Daily Show's Lewis Black has
taken a swipe at Keith Ablow's Chaz Bono on Dancing with the Stars
comments.
On Thursday's broadcast of Comedy
Central's The
Daily Show, Black commented on the controversy surrounding
Chaz Bono's appearance on the dancing reality show.
Bono, the child of gay icon Cher and
the late entertainer-politician Sonny Bono, is the first transgender
person to be featured on ABC's Dancing with the Stars
“I'm surprised at the concern,”
Black says, “because nobody seemed to have any trouble explaining
the dancing alcoholic [referring to David Hasselhoff], the dancing
pornographer's concubine [Holly Madison] … the dancing convicted
money launderer [Tom DeLay] … the dancing sleaze peddler [Jerry
Springer]. … and this douchebag in the bow tie [Tucker Carlson].”
“What makes Chaz Bono more
controversial than a bunch of criminals and freaks?” Black
rhetorically asks before playing a clip with Dr. Keith Ablow.
“Do you really believe that children
are going to turn transgender from watching Chaz Bono,” Fox News'
Megyn Kelly asks.
“Yes,” Ablow responds. “It's
possible that if someone is celebrated and lifted to heroic
proportions to that of a civil rights leader, that someone who is
somewhat uncomfortable with his or her gender might say, 'You know
what? I'm going down that road.'”
“I don't know if letting your kids
watch Chaz Bono will turn them into transsexuals, but I'm pretty sure
letting them watch Keith Ablow will turn them into assholes,” Black
says.
