Comedian-actress Sandra Bernhard says
gay actors can reach out to her when feeling funky.
The 56-year-old Bernhard is the latest
celebrity to join actor James Duke Mason's Trailblazer campaign,
which urges gay actors to leave the closet.
“I've always been open about who I
am, all the way around,” Bernhard says in her
one-minute-thirteen-second video. “Forthright, a feminist, you
know, relaxed in my sexuality, and I've always had a certain kind of
confidence about who I am.”
“Just stand firm and always feel
confident – there's no reason not to defend yourself or feel
ashamed or embarrassed ever about who you are. And that's the beauty
of being in the 21st century. So, anytime you're feeling
a little bit funky remember there's a whole network of people you can
reach out to, and I'm one of them.” (The video is embedded in the
right panel of this page.)
Celebrities who have recorded similar
videos include actors Jason
Stuart, Mike
Manning, Nicholas
Downs, Chad
Allen and, of course, James
Duke Mason.
