A previous career in gay porn has put
the brakes on a teaching career for Shawn Loftis, who went by the
screen name Collin O'Neal.
According
to alternative weekly Miami
New Times, Loftis built a gay porn empire that included his
own production studio, Collin O'Neal Productions, and multiple awards
for showing off his talents in films such as Mo' Bubble Butt,
Humping Iron and Desperate Husbands.
Last year, however, Loftis turned his
back on gay porn, selling off his production company to pursue a
teaching career.
Loftis, who earned a master's degree in
public administration from the University of Miami, began substitute
teaching in public schools throughout the Miami-Dade system.
He was suspended in January after a
school principal was tipped on his former career.
Loftis was accused of breaking a school
district rule which demands that school faculty “conduct
themselves, both in their employment and in the community, in a
manner that will reflect credit upon themselves and the school
system.”
In April, the Florida Department of
Education revoked his teaching certification.
He told the paper that he believes his
porn career wouldn't have mattered much if he had done straight
films.
Loftis has since returned to the world
of gay porn.
