During a chat with Chelsea Handler
published in celebrity
glossy Interview, actress Anne Hathaway said she wishes
New Jersey would “get on the New York bandwagon” and legalize gay
marriage.
Handler caught up with Hathaway as she
vacationed with boyfriend Adam Shulman in Positano, Italy, which
Hathaway said reminds her of Southern California “without strip
malls and a bit more charm.”
On the topic of trading in New Jersey
for Los Angeles at the age of sixteen, Hathaway said: “The other
thing I want to say about Jersey is they need to get on the New York
bandwagon and legalize gay marriage.”
“Yeah,” Handler agreed. “That
would be a good idea for any state.”
“But I think everybody should do
that. It's not a specifically Jersey thing.”
“Well, your brother is gay, right?”
“My older brother is gay,” the
28-year-old Hathaway replied.
“We talked about that last time you
were on the show,” Handler said, referring to her late night chat
show Chelsea Lately, which airs on cabler E! “I'm convinced
that my older brother is gay, too, although he has yet to come out of
the closest.”
“He doesn't admit it?”
“He doesn't admit it. I keep telling
him he's gay, but he keeps pretending that he's not.”
“I'm convinced that a few guys I've
dated are gay, and they won't admit it,” Hathaway said. “I think
we've all done that.”
Hathaway currently stars opposite Jim
Sturgess in the film One Day.
