Singer Ricky Martin has congratulated Argentina President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner on passage of the country's gay marriage law.

Martin arrived in Argentina on Sunday. The 39-year-old pop star is currently on tour to promote his latest studio album Musica + Alma + Sexo (Music + Soul + Sex). He tweeted to his more than 3 million followers that he's in Argentina to film the video for FRIO, which appears on Musica + Alma + Sexo.

Argentina, last year, became the first country in Latin America to legalize gay marriage.

The singer and president met at the Casa Rosada in Buenos Aires. Martin congratulated the president on the new law and said he was moved when he learned that Congress had approved the measure.

In a radio interview, Martin said he enjoyed his brief stop: “Everything was wonderful, as I always say, we must keep things simple, and the way that I find to do this is with my inner child, so now I want to recover the innocence and purity of my childhood.”

Martin's arrival in Argentina fueled rumors that the singer had traveled there to marry his boyfriend of three years Carlos Gonzales.

The former Menudo star came out gay in his 2010 memoir Me.
