Max Adler, who plays closeted football
player Dave Karofsky on the Fox musical-comedy Glee, has
suggested his self-loathing character might commit suicide.
Karofsky torments openly gay McKinley
High student Kurt Hummel, played by Chris Colfer, presumably because
he's gay.
But
in a recent episode, Karofsky shocked millions of fans when he
reached in to kiss Hummel instead of delivering a promised beat down
in the men's locker room.
In
an interview with TV Guide, Adler suggested the conflicted
student's feeling will be aired out in the upcoming episode featuring
Lady Gaga's gay anthem Born This Way.
“That song is the main focal point
and message of the whole [April 26] episode as far as people tackling
their insecurities and overcoming things like sexuality or physical
appearance,” Adler said.
“With Karofsky … he could join the
glee club and sing a big solo as an out, proud guy, or he could go
the opposite route and go home and hang himself like many people have
done. Imagine that episode, that message.”
Glee Executive Producer Brad
Falchuk, however, denied such a storyline was being pursued.
“Glee doesn't really feel like
the show for that,” Falchuk said. “We like to get dramatic and
push things, but that didn't seem the kind of story we wanted to
tell.”
