Twenty-six-year-old Damian Furtch was
attacked after leaving a Manhattan McDonald's in the West Village on
Sunday, the New York Daily News reported.
Furtch was left with two black eyes and
multiple stitches from the attack that is being investigated as a
hate crime.
The altercation began as Furtch, an
aspiring actor and model, and a co-worker, both of whom had just
ended their shifts at the nearby Pink Tea Cup Restaurant, left the
fast food eatery around 4:30AM and two men, who had confronted the
pair inside the McDonald's, followed them.
The men harassed Furtch and taunted him
with anti-gay slurs, Furtch reportedly told his boss. The second man
was not injured in the attack.
“I thought I was safe in the city I
loved but apparently wearing fluorescent colored clothing and pink
shoelaces really bother some f-----g a--holes to blind side me and
hit me,” he wrote on his Facebook page, where he also posted photos
of his injuries.
Furtch walked to Roosevelt Hospital
where he was treated and released.
Police have described the suspects as
Hispanic men about 18-20 years old. One of the attackers has a
gothic cross tattoo under his left eye.
