Rocker Adam Lambert says gay teens
struggling with their sexuality must first love themselves.
In an interview with Entertainment
Tonight Canada, Lambert said being an openly gay celebrity was an
opportunity to help people.
When asked if stardom comes with a
degree of social responsibility, Lambert answered: “It's an amazing
opportunity to help people. It is more than the music. It's a
lifestyle thing. And I think that there isn't a ton of visibility
for gays and lesbians.”
Lambert added that anyone struggling
with their sexuality must first love themselves.
“I think at the end of the day, you
really have to just close your eyes and focus on who you are and what
you want. You've got to be in love with yourself in order to love
anybody else or in order to get along with anybody else.”
“Are you there?” the interviewer
asked.
“I'm so in love with myself!” the
29-year-old Lambert answered. (The video is embedded in the right
panel of this page.)
Lambert also confirmed rumors that he's
got someone special in his life, but didn't name his boyfriend. (The
Internet says it's Finnish reality star Sauli Koskinen.)
