Glee creator Ryan Murphy
addressed rumors that Darren Criss' gay character Blaine Anderson
would come out bisexual in an upcoming episode.
Criss' arrival on the Fox
musical-comedy has been one of the show's highlights of its second
season.
Rumors that the out-and-proud Dalton
Academy student wasn't gay after all began to surface last week on
the Internet.
In a statement released over the
weekend to gay celebrity website PerezHilton.com, Murphy
denied he's considering altering Blaine's sexuality.
“Blaine is NOT bi,” Murphy wrote.
“He is gay, and will always be gay. I think it's very important to
young [gay] kids that they know this character is one of them.”
In comments made to gay glossy Out,
Murphy hints at the upcoming storyline.
“Blaine will openly question whether
bisexuality is real,” he said. “I think that some people will
love that discussion and some will not love it.”
Gay
male entertainment website AfterElton.com noted that Murphy did
not say that Blaine will question his own sexuality.
Criss
appears on the cover of this month's Out magazine.
