There is a 2012 GOP presidential
candidate that supports gay marriage: Jimmy McMillan of The Rent Is 2
Damn High Party.
McMillan made headlines last year when
he campainged for governor of New York and received 40,000 votes.
The colorful McMillan held an impromptu
press conference on Friday at the Conservative Political Action
Conference (CPAC) in Washington.
Wearing his signature black gloves and
handlebar mustache, McMillan stood in front of gay GOP group
GOProud's booth and reiterated his support for gay marriage, CBS News
reported.
He said he doesn't want to know what
other people do in their bedrooms “because I get freaky in my
bedroom.”
“If you want to drop your pants, drop
'em, dog. I got your back,” McMillan said in response to a
question about “personal liberties.”
During a televised gubernatorial debate
last year, McMillan said, “If you want to marry a shoe, I'll marry
you,” in response to whether he supports marriage equality.
After his surprise CPAC appearance,
McMillan returned to New York. While standing in Penn Station, the
64-year-old announced he would run for president in 2012 as a
Republican, according
to the New York Daily News.
