Openly gay rugby star Gareth Thomas
showed off his Ellen underwear and tattoos in a new interview with
gay
sports website Outsports.com.
The 6-foot-3 Thomas recently appeared
on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where
he told his host that he once “prayed to be straight.”
The 36-year-old athlete came away from
that appearance with more than just new fans. He also received
underwear from his host that he was happy to model while talking to
Outsports.com's Cyd Zeigler.
When Thomas stood up to show Zeigler a
tattoo of hands praying etched onto his rock solid abs, Zeigler
immediately noticed that he was wearing Ellen underwear.
“Is that Ellen on your underwear?”
Zeigler asked
“Yes,” Thomas responded
“She gave you Ellen underwear?”
“She gave me a lot of stuff,”
Thomas said.
Afterward, Thomas explained that the
hands praying tattoo was his way of praying he'll remain safe on the
field.
Thomas, who is single, also said his
boyfriend would have to love sports.
“It would have to be someone who has
an interest in sport, it think, because sport has been such a big
part of my life. You know if there's sport on TV – whether it be
rugby, football, chess even – I will sit down and watch any kind of
sport that's on. So it's a big part of my life.”
