Glee showmaster Ryan Murphy has
confirmed that Darren Criss is staying on the show and hinted that he
could become Chris Colfer's boyfriend.
Talking
with gay male entertainment website AfterElton.com, Murphy said
Criss, whose
performance of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream has become the
show's biggest single, has been signed on as a cast regular
through season 3 of the Fox musical-comedy hit.
When asked if Criss' character of
Blaine, an out and proud student from a rival glee club named the
Dalton Academy Warblers, and gay McKinley High student Kurt Hummel,
played by Chris Colfer, would become an item, Murphy said he was
considering the coupling.
“That I have not decided,” he said.
“I want to see what people's reaction to that is. Part of me
thinks he should be the boyfriend, part of me thinks he should just
be the mentor. I didn't want to decide that until we got into sort
of the middle of the season.”
Murphy, however, didn't waver in his
commitment to partnering Hummel: “Kurt will definitely get a
boyfriend. The question is who will it be and how will it be.”
A second possible boyfriend is Max
Adler, who plays Dave Karofsky, Hummel's tormentor on the show.
Adler
recently suggested there might be romance brewing between the pair.
