Ricky Martin says coming out gay is a
“spiritual” process that cannot be forced.
The 38-year-old father of twin boys
Valentino and Matteo appeared Friday on the Ellen DeGeneres Show.
In his memoir titled Me!, Martin
talks about his March decision to come out gay.
“I think that everyone has to go
through their own process,” he told his host. “When you're not
ready, you're not ready. You have to go through a spiritual path.
It doesn't mater if it takes you 10, 15 years since the moment you
realize where you understand who you are. You cannot be forced.”
Martin also addressed the recent spate
of gay teens bullied to death.
“Children are being bullied because
they are gay and they are committing suicide. Children are
committing suicide because they are being outed. If you're not
ready, you're just not ready.” (The video is embedded in the right

Martin
has been crowned Entertainer of the Year in gay glossy Out's
annual list of most compelling gay people of 2010.
