The second season of Craigslist TV
premiered a gay marriage episode on the second anniversary of passage
of Proposition 8, California's gay marriage ban.
Voters approved the ban on November 4,
2008. A
federal judge's ruling declaring the law unconstitutional is
currently on appeal. The
appeals court will hear oral arguments on December 6.
Craigslist TV's Getting Married
episode features Rev. Lorelei Starbuck, who married more than 600 gay
and lesbian couples before Proposition 8 overturned a California
Supreme Court decision legalizing such unions. Starbuck advertises
her services on the classifieds website Craigslist.com.
In the episode, we meet the adorable
Michael and Luca as they prepare for their big day.
“I just looked into his eyes and I
knew that those were the eyes that I wanted to stare at for the rest
of my life,” Michael says.
“They are honestly the happiest
couple I've ever met,” says one guest at the wedding.
The question of whether Luca's father
will attend the ceremony and the absence of Michael's family threaten
to rain on the couple's big day. (The episode is embedded in the
right panel of this page.)
