Actor-comedian-author Stephen Fry has created controversy by saying women don't like sex much.

In an interview with UK gay glossy Attitude, the 53-year-old always entertaining British entertainer says women don't care much for sex.

“If women liked sex as much as men, there would be straight cruising areas in the way there are gay cruising areas,” Fry said. “Women would hang around in churchyards thinking: 'God, I've got to get my fucking rocks off,' or they'd go to Hampstead Heath and meet strangers to shag behind a bush. It doesn't happen. Why? Because the only women you can have sex with like that wish to be paid for it.”

Fry, who hosts the BBC quiz program QI and is currently filming the Sherlock Holmes sequel, added that women put up with sex because it's needed for a relationship.

Feminists have already blasted Fry, saying the gay actor is unqualified to speak on the subject.

Fry was named second most influential gay person in Britain by the UK paper the Independent on Sunday in May 2007.
