Alec Baldwin is livid that the state of New York won't allow him to marry Jesse Tyler Ferguson, never mind, Baldwin says, that he's straight.

The 52-year-old star of NBC's comedy hit 30 Rock wants New Yorkers to oust the senators who voted against legalizing gay marriage last year because Ferguson, star of the ABC comedy hit Modern Family, has a crush on him.

Baldwin is responding to a video Ferguson recorded for Fight Back NY. In the video, Ferguson says, “I have a crush on someone.” That someone is Baldwin. “He doesn't know it yet, but we are going to get married.” An off-camera voice, however, breaks the news to Ferguson that Baldwin is straight. “Why would you spring this on me here?” a brokenhearted Ferguson rhetorically asks.

But Baldwin, straight as he may be, is prepared to walk down the aisle with Ferguson.

“As a result of this video, a vast and malicious whisper campaign has emerged alleging that I can't marry Jesse because I'm not gay,” Baldwin replies in a new video posted Wednesday.

Baldwin says the only reason he can't marry Ferguson is because gay marriage is illegal in New York.

“Help Fight Back New York remove from office those senators who stand in the way of equality,” he says.

“Because no one tells a New Yorker that they can't marry Jesse Tyler Ferguson,” he adds. (The video is embedded in the right panel of this page.)

Sex in the City 2 star Cynthia Nixon, who campaigned heavily for passage of the law last year and is openly lesbian, was featured in a video for the group in March.
