Actor Neil Patrick Harris has quickly
put to bed the rumor that he's trading in Hollywood to become a
stay-at-home dad.
The star of CBS' How I Met Your
Mother and his partner, celebrity chef and part-time actor David
Burtka, announced over the weekend that they are expecting twins via
a surrogate.
“So, get this: David and I are
expecting twins this fall,” he tweeted to his thousands of
followers on Saturday. “We're super excited/nervous/thrilled.”
“Hoping the press can respect our
privacy...” he added.
Celebrity website Popeater.com reported
on Tuesday that an unnamed source told them that Harris would be
taking a break from Hollywood in October after the birth of his
twins.
“[W]ith twins due in October, Neil is
thinking about taking a break,” the source said. “Moving from
Hollywood to New York City to be a full-time daddy.”
Harris returned to Twitter to deny the
rumor: “I'm absolutely not leaving LA or the business. Errant
reporting, Popeater. Total bunk.”
Celebrity
glossy Us Weekly reported that the couple is expecting
a son and a daughter.
