Openly lesbian Jane Lynch and gay-inclusive hits Glee and Modern Family took home top awards Saturday at the 26th Annual Television Critics Awards.

TCA members gathering in Beverly Hills honored Lynch with their Individual Achievement in Comedy award. It was one of the multiple awards given to Fox's musical comedy hit Glee, which stars Lynch as coach Sue Sylvester.

The 200-plus professional TV critics association also honored Glee with Program of the Year and Outstanding New Program.

Not only are two of the show's stars openly gay – Lynch and Chris Colfer – but the show's character of Kurt Hummel (played by Colfer) is a gay student at McKinley High.

Another television program with both openly gay actors and characters is ABC's American Family, which won the Outstanding Achievement in Comedy award.

Openly gay Jesse Tyler Ferguson plays gay dad Mitchell Pritchett on the Sunday night comedy.

Lynch, Colfer and Ferguson are among the seven openly gay stars to be nominated for Emmy Awards, which will be handed out on Sunday, August 29.
