Portions of a love scene between Jim
Carrey and Ewan McGregor from the much-delayed movie I Love You
Phillip Morris went viral on the Internet Friday.
The brief 1 minute clip shows the pair
in an romantic jailhouse embrace. McGregor says “Enough romance,
let's fuck” as he heads down on Carrey.
The clip also shows Carrey topping
another man in a dark bedroom.
The scenes were available to view on
various websites Friday, but EuropaCorp, the French movie studio that
owns the film, managed to take down the clip from many websites.
However, it
still remains on others. Gay website Queerty
said the studio had asked them to remove the clip.
I Love You Phillip Morris first
premiered over a year ago at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. But
producers were unable to secure distribution for the film until they
offered a less gay version.
The film's release has been postponed
four times since February, most recently last week when a California
judge issue a preliminary injunction preventing the July 30 release
of the film in the United States. EuropaCorp claims its U.S.
distributor Consolidated Pictures Group has not paid the agreed upon
$3 million advance for the film.
Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor star in
the jailhouse gay romance film based on the true story of Steven
Russell (played by Carrey, Liar Liar) and his improbable
transformation from small-town businessman, father and former cop to
gay white-collar criminal and ingenious jailbreaker.
While in prison, Russell falls in love
with his cellmate Phillip Morris (played by McGregor, Star Wars).
McGregor has spoken out against efforts
to de-gay the film, telling Out's
Joshua David Stein: “It's nothing but a gay movie.”
