Expedia is reaching out to gay
travelers with its new gay
travel store.
The online travel giant has partnered
with the International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association in
creating its new site geared towards gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender travelers.
Mini gay guides located in the store
feature attractions and hotels for some of the hottest gay
destinations. The Los Angeles guide points gay travelers to West
Hollywood and Silver Lake.
The guides focus on the world's top 16
gay-friendly cities: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Chicago, London,
Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York City, Palm Springs, Paris,
Provincetown, Puerto Vallarta, Miami, Key West, Fort Lauderdale and
Toronto.
Some of city guides, however, appear to
be a work in progress. Such as in Los Angeles, the guide says “most
lodging is gay friendly,” yet only 4 hotels are listed.
Even without a city guide, Expedia
helps you find gay-friendly lodging, just search for
“LGBT-welcoming.” The site lists only one gay-friendly hotel in
China, the Aloft Beijing, Haidian. There are no gay-friendly hotels
in Africa, according to the site.
