Is there a The L Word
movie in the works?
Ilene Chaiken, creator of the now
departed show about a group of lesbians living in Los Angeles, hinted
as much over the weekend.
The women of the The L Word
called it concluded this season after a six-year run on cable
channel Showtime on a
cliffhanger of sorts. During the final season, Jenny Schecter (Mia
Kirshner), the show's most conflicted character, was murdered in the
first frame. And as the women took their final bows several months
later, the identity of Jenny's murderer remained a mystery.
Leaving fans anticipating a spinoff
certain to revolve around the question. And a spinoff set in a
women's prison was in the works.
But Chaiken's The Farm was
passed over by Showtime execs in April. Leaving long-time
fans hungering for one answer: Who killed Jenny?
According to AfterEllen.com,
a blog dedicated to lesbian entertainment, Chaiken hinted she was
working on a big screen adaption of The L Word.
When asked during a blogging panel at
the BlogHer
conference over the weekend who killed Jenny, Chaiken responded that
the issue “will be addressed” in an upcoming The L Word film.
