At the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards,
RuPaul, the host of Logo TV's RuPaul's Drag Race, told Vulture
that he was “heartbroken” over the election of Donald Trump.
“Last night I woke up at 1:30 in the
morning and I remembered what happened and I couldn't get back to
sleep,” RuPaul
said. “It's sad. I'm still so heartbroken over it.”
“It feels like the death of America …
The America that we all fought so hard for, the narrative of love and
peace and liberty and equality – it feels like it is dead,” he
added.
During the campaign, RuPaul called
Trump “fucking insane.”
In an interview with The Advocate,
RuPaul backed down a bit on his assertion that “po-lit-ics” is a
“complete bore.”
“[T]his
presidential election, it's interesting, because one of the
candidates is fucking insane. Absolutely. And history will look
back at this and go, 'What the hell happened?!' It really will.
And, of course, we're talking about Drumpf. So, yeah, politics are a
bore,” RuPaul
said.
