Lily Tomlin, Jim Parsons, Sarah
Paulson, Tituss Burgess, Lea DeLaria, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Evan
Rachel Wood are among the LGBT actors nominated Wednesday for a SAG
Award.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) announced
in August that Lily Tomlin will receive its 2016 SAG Life Achievement
Award during next month's ceremony.
Tomlin has also been nominated for lead
actress in a comedy for her performance in Netflix's Grace &
Frankie, as is her co-star Jane Fonda. Uzo Uduba, who plays
lesbian Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren in Netflix's dramedy Orange
is the New Black, is also competing in the category.
Sarah Paulson is nominated in the
Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or
Limited Series category for her portrayal of Marcia Clark on FX's
American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson.
Tituss Burgess received a lead actor in
a comedy nomination for his work on the Netflix comedy Unbreakable
Kimmy Schmidt. Also competing in the category is Jeffrey Tambor,
who plays a transgender woman in Amazon's Transparent.
Jim Parsons received two nominations,
one for his work on the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory, and
one for Hidden Figures, which is competing in the Outstanding
Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture category, SAG's best
picture category. Among the film's competitors is Moonlight,
which follows an African-American man growing up in a rough
neighborhood as he struggles to come out gay over three periods of
his life.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson received a
nomination in the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy
Series category for his work on ABC's Modern Family. Also
competing in the category is Lea DeLaria, who plays lesbian Big Boo
on Netflix's Orange is the New Black. Nominations in the
Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series category
include Evan Rachel Wood for her performance on HBO's Westworld.
Winners will be announced during a
ceremony that airs live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 29.
