Nominations for the 74th
annual Golden Globe Awards include out actors Evan Rachel Wood and
Sarah Paulson and director Tom Ford.
Wood was nominated for her work on the
HBO drama Westworld in the Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama
category. She'll compete against Caitriona Balfe (Outlander),
Claire Foy (The Crown), Keri Russell (The Americans)
and Winona Ryder (Stranger Things).
Ford received two nominations for his
directing and screenplay for Nocturnal Animals, his second
film.
Paulson is nominated for her work on
The People vs. OJ Simpson: American Crime Story in the Best
Performance by an actress in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for
Television category. Also nominated are Felicity Huffman (American
Crime), Charlotte Rampling (London Spy) and Kerry
Washington (Confirmation).
Moonlight received five
nominations, including Best Motion Picture Drama, while La La Land
received seven, including Best Motion Picture Comedy or Musical.
Moonlight follows an African-American man who struggles to
come out gay over three periods of his life while growing up in a
rough neighborhood of Miami.
Winners will be announced on Sunday,
January 9.
