Out singer Billy Gilman has won a top
spot on NBC's The Voice as the singing competition series
prepares to crown this season's winner.
The 28-year-old Gilman's rendition of
Celine Dion's I Surrender received a standing ovation by
judges Adam Levine, Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys and Blake Shelton.
“I so desperately wanted people to
hear me do this stuff,” Gilman, who is on Adam Levine's team, said,
a reference to his country music career.
“I love that it's not the expected
thing,” Levine replied.
Gilman will compete against We'
McDonald (Team Alicia Keys), Sundance Head (Team Blake Shelton) and
Josh Gallagher (Team Adam Levine) in next week's two-night finale,
which begins Monday. The winner will be announced on Tuesday's live
finale.
