Portuguese soccer star Cristiano
Ronaldo was taunted by homophobic slurs on Sunday.
The incident occurred as Real Madrid
faced Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon.
Ronaldo, named this year by Forbes
as the world's highest paid athlete, reportedly told his teammates in
the locker room that midfielder Koke (real name Jorge Resurreccion
Merodio) of Atletico called him a “faggot” on the field,
according to Spanish
radio station Cadena Cope.
For months rumors have circulated that
Ronaldo is in a romantic relationship with Amsterdam-born kickboxer
Badr Hari, who lives in Morocco. Photos of the friends on social
media have fueled the tabloid stories.
Ronaldo reportedly responded, “A
faggot, yes, but with a lot of pasta, bastard,” referring to his
wealth.
According to Morocco
World News, the crowd could be heard chanting “Go to Morocco”
and “faggot.”
