Actress Bex Taylor-Klaus, best known
for playing Audrey Jensen on MTV's Scream, came out gay on
Friday.
Roughly three months ago, Taylor-Klaus,
22, recorded a video in which she swore never to reveal her
sexuality.
“hello my name is bex and yes the
rumors are true I am v gay,” Taylor-Klaus tweeted on Wednesday.
The tweet pointed to a YouNow live
stream in which she said that she had changed her mind about being
open due in part to the election of Donald Trump.
“Part of why I'm coming out is
because there's so much hate and fear in and around the LGBT
community right now and it's important for us not to halt progress
out of fear,” Klaus-Taylor
said.
“Yes, it's a scary time, but we need
to stand up and say, even if you are afraid, I'm not afraid, or even
if I am afraid, I'm strong. I am who I am and you can't take that
away from me,” she added.
After receiving positive support,
Klaus-Taylor tweeted, “Than you for all the love and support since
last night – it truly means a lot!” with a rainbow flag emoji and
an emoji face blowing a kiss with one eye open.
