CBS has bought a legal drama about a
gay lawyer who returns home to Mississippi.
According to Deadline
Hollywood, Rebel Law centers on the attorney as he joins
his family's law practice.
The family members “work through
their personal and political differences both inside and outside the
courtroom,” Deadline wrote.
Involved in the project are Kit
Williamson, Michael Rauch, Lisa Kudrow and Dan Bucatinsky.
Williamson and Rauch wrote the pilot,
while Rauch, Kudrow and Bucatinsky executive produce. Williamson is
also co-executive producing for CBS TV Studios.
Williamson created, stars in and
executive produces EastSiders, a dark comedy about a gay male
couple facing infidelity which began as a web series and was later
featured on Logo TV's website. The series' two seasons are now
available on Netflix. Williamson also played a recurring guest role
on AMC's Mad Men.
Bucatinsky is best known for playing
James Novak in the ABC drama Scandal. He's also appeared on
Web Therapy, Kudrow's now-canceled Showtime comedy.
