Over a dozen gay bars and restaurants
are refusing to serve Yuengling beer after its owner endorsed Donald
Trump's presidential ambitions.
Dick Yuengling, the owner of D.G.
Yuengling & Son, on Monday gave Trump's son, Eric Trump, a tour
of the Yuengling brewery in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
“My father's going to make it a lot
easier for business to function,” Eric Trump said during a news
conference. “We're going to do it right here in the U.S.”
The Reading
Eagle quoted Yuengling as saying, “Our guys are behind your
father. We need him in there.”
According to the Washington
Blade, several local D.C. bars and eateries have removed
Yuengling from their menus.
David Perruzza manages JR's Bar and
Grill, which is located just east of Dupont Circle.
Perruzza posted a video on Facebook of
him removing Yuengling's tap from the bar.
“His support for Trump is basically
support for [Mike] Pence,” Perruzza told the Blade. “I
don't want them getting any support from gay people. It may sound
weird, but I don't want any cent of it going to Trump.”
Other local establishments followed
suit, including some gay-friendly businesses.
A meme circulating online features an
image of a Yuengling truck with the caption “bye bye, assholes!”
