Democratic presidential nominee Hillary
Clinton considered two openly gay leaders for running mate, leaked
emails show.
The hacked emails from Clinton campaign
chairman John Podesta were released by WikiLeaks over the weekend.
Apple CEO Tim Cook and Wisconsin
Senator Tammy Baldwin appeared on a list of 39 potential picks for
vice president, the
AP and other outlets reported.
Podesta described the list as a “first
cut of people to consider for VP.”
Other names on the list include
Senators Elizabeth Warren, Sherrod Brown, Cory Booker and Bernie
Sanders – Clinton's rival for the nomination – Los Angeles Mayor
Eric Garcetti and Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe.
Other business leaders on the list
include Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda Gates,
Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz and Coca-Cola CEO Muhtar Kent.
Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, Clinton's
running mate, is also on the list.
