Appearing Monday on Jimmy Kimmel,
singer Dolly Parton said that she's proud of her gay fans.
Parton, 70, is promoting her latest
studio album, Pure and Simple.
“There's a lot of people that dress
up like you and come to the concert. Is that weird to look out into
the audience?” Kimmel asked.
“It's fun,” Parton answered. “I'm
used to it. I have a huge gay following and I'm proud of it.”
“I see so many drag queens out there
– I see so many girls that look more like me than I do. So when I
see them, instead of 'Jolene' I do 'Drag queen, drag queen, drag
queen, I'm beggin' of you, don't take my man,'” she sang.
Imitating her, Parton said, was easy:
“Just a stuffed bra and a cheap wig. That's how I've done it all
these years.”
