Conservative commentator Tomi Lahren
has criticized Hillary Clinton's description of half of Donald
Trump's supporters as a “basket of deplorables.”
During a fundraiser in New York City
hosted by Barbra Streisand, Clinton said: “To be grossly
generalistic, you could put half of Trump supporters into what I call
the basket of deplorables. Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic,
xenophobic, Islamaphobic, you name it. But that other basket of
people are people who feel the government has let them down, the
economy has let them down, nobody cares about them.”
In a statement, Clinton said, “I
regret saying 'half' – that was wrong,” but pledged to continue
to call out the “bigotry” in Trump's campaign.
Lahren, host of TheBlaze's Tomi,
defended Trump supporters during a segment tilted “Clinton's
Basket.”
“Now you have the audacity to call
Trump supporters racists, sexist, xenophobic, homophobic, and
Islamophobic while you and your foundation donors and those funding
your lifestyle literally stone women and throw gays off buildings?”
she rhetorically asked her viewers.
“It’s not racist to believe in
accountability, reject victimhood, and speak out against the antics
of the ‘Black Lives Matter More’ movement and support our police
officers,” she continued. “It’s not sexist to deny the
presidency to a woman because that woman is a crooked sack of lies.
It’s not xenophobic to put Americans first in our own damn country
and believe in a secure border and respect for rule of law. And
listen here, Miss Clinton: it’s not Islamophobic to call our
enemies what they are – radical Muslims.”
Of course, the Black Lives Matter
movement does not include the term “more.” Additionally, Clinton
made her remarks during an LGBT fundraiser and does not have a record
of throwing gays off buildings.
