Olympian Gus Kenworthy will compete in
Celebrity Family Feud to raise money for the Happy Hippie
Foundation.
Kenworthy's team includes his father,
mother and two brothers, who will be “feuding” against The
Talk co-host Sheryl Underwood's family.
The 24-year-old Kenworthy publicly came
out gay in an ESPN story last year.
In a clip from the upcoming episode,
Kenworthy tells host Steve Harvey why the Happy Hippie Foundation is
important to him.
“When I came out to my family, they
were completely loving and supportive,” Kenworthy says. “But
that's not a reality for a lot of LGBT youth. When they tell their
parents, a lot of kids end up on the streets.”
“I don't get that part,” Harvey
responded. “If it's my kid, it's my kid. I'm not going to stop
loving my kid.”
Singer Miley Cyrus founded the Happy
Hippie Foundation, which works to “fight injustice facing homeless
youth, LGBTQ youth and other vulnerable populations.”
