English actor Gregg Sulkin will play a
high school quarterback who fakes being gay in the upcoming film
Status Update.
According to Deadline
Hollywood, Sulkin, 23, will play Josh in the indie comedy from
director Gabe Torres (Brake).
Josh, who wants to be a journalist,
changes his Facebook status from “single” to “interested in
men” for an article. Josh becomes a hero to LGBT teens after a
fellow male student who has a crush on him creates a tribute video
that goes viral and the story is picked up by the media.
Sulkin made his film debut at the age
of ten in the 2002 mini-series Doctor Zhivago.
Ironically, Sulkin currently stars on
MTV's Faking It, which revolves around two best friends who
fake being a lesbian couple to be popular. Faking It returned
for a third season this week.
