Caitlyn Jenner is facing a backlash on
social media for saying that she would like to be Ted Cruz's “trans
ambassador.”
In an interview with gay glossy The
Advocate, Jenner, a Republican, revealed that she backs Cruz's
presidential ambitions.
“I like Ted Cruz,” Jenner answered
when asked who she supports for the Republican presidential
nomination.
She went on to say that if Cruz won the
White House, she would like to advise him on transgender issues.
“Yes, trans ambassador to the
president of the United States,” Jenner
said. “So we can say, 'Ted, love what you're doing, but here's
what's going on.'”
Jenner faced a backlash on social
media.
“She isn't doing anything to advance
LGBT politically,” wrote one user on Twitter.
“I've the greatest respect 4
#CaitlynJenner as a woman but u vote like a rich white man.
#tedcruz? Seriously?” wrote another user.
Cruz has a long record of opposing LGBT
rights.
Last year he criticized as “ridiculous”
a court ruling that allows transgender students to use the locker
room that corresponds to their gender identity.
