GLAAD on Wednesday announced the 149
nominees for its 27th annual Media Awards that will be
presented in Los Angeles and New York.
“For nearly three decades, the GLAAD
Media Awards have propelled inclusion in media and driven LGBT
acceptance forward,” said GLAAD CEO and President Sarah Kate Ellis.
“This year's nominees have raised the bar for creating thoughtful
and diverse LGBT images and storylines, deepening audiences'
understanding of LGBT people and accelerating acceptance across the
world.”
The Danish Girl competes in the
outstanding wide release film category against Carol, Dope,
Freeheld and Grandma.
Adam Lambert is up for outstanding
artist, along with Troye Sivan, Le1f, Miley Cyrus and Brandi Carlile.
Grace and Frankie (Netflix) is
nominated for outstanding comedy series along with Brooklyn Nine-Nine
(Fox), Faking It (MTV), Looking (HBO), Master of
None (Netflix), Modern Family (ABC), Orange is the New
Black (Netflix), Please Like Me (Pivot), Transparent
(Amazon), and Vicious (PBS).
Nominees in the best drama series
category include Sense8 (Netflix), Arrow (The CW),
Black Sails (Starz), Empire (Fox), The Fosters
(ABC Family), Grey's Anatomy (ABC), How to Get Away With
Murder (ABC), Nashville (ABC), Orphan Black (BBC
America), and Shameless (Showtime).
