Barbara Walters on Thursday named
Caitlyn Jenner this year's most interesting figure.
In her yearly ABC special, Walters
named Jenner the “most fascinating person of 2015.”
“I'm both humbled and honored,”
Jenner said in a tweet.
Jenner made her public debut on the
cover of Vanity Fair in June.
“When Bruce Jenner became Caitlyn
Jenner, there was a seismic shift in the gender universe,” Walters
said. “Famous and familiar, she raised awareness and acceptance of
transgender people. Through her own transformation, Caitlyn Jenner
transformed society this year. And that for us makes her the most
fascinating person of 2015.”
Walters' list for 2015 also included
Amy Schumer, Bradley Cooper, Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, Jeff
Bezos, Tracy Morgan, Donna Karan, Misty Copeland and Ronda Rousey.
In previous years, Walter has named
Princess Diana and Hillary Clinton as “most fascinating.”
