Out actor Jonathan Groff says that
HBO's upcoming finale for Looking includes “the most intense
sex scene” he's ever done.
HBO abruptly canceled Looking after
its second season but promised a special to end the series.
The show follows the lives of three gay
men living in San Francisco: Patrick
(played by Groff), who came to the city to find love, Dom (Murray
Bartlett), a waiter looking to fulfill his father's dream of owning a
successful restaurant, and Agustin (Frankie J. Alvarez), who
struggles with his art and relationships.
Season 2 ended with
Groff's video game designer character Patrick questioning whether he
should stay with his boyfriend Kevin (Russell Tovey) or pursue a
relationship with Richie (Raul Castillo).
“There's
a lot of sex. I don't want to say who it was with, but I just shot
the most intense sex scene I've ever done,” Groff told
BroawayWorld.com
from San Francisco, where he is filming the finale to Looking.
“One
of the cool things about Looking
is that after the first season, a lot of people – shockingly,
liberal, open artists in New York and L.A. – said they didn’t
know that gay people could have sex while facing each other.”
“The show
illuminated intimacy in sex [between men] without being porny or
salacious. Those scenes felt very real and true to life. I was
excited to do them,” Groff added.
