Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres are among the thousands of people who responded to a gay teen's viral photo.

The photo posted on the popular Humans of New York's social media accounts shows a young boy sitting on a stoop, crying.

“I'm homosexual,” reads the caption. “I'm afraid about what my future will be and that people won't like me.”

The photo was shared hundreds of thousands of times and received more than 45,000 comments.

“Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing,” Clinton wrote. “You will surprise yourself with what you're capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you – there will be lots of them. – H.”

“Not only will people like you, they'll love you,” DeGeneres said. “I just heard of you and I love you already.”

Humans of New York was started in 2010 by photographer Brandon Stanton. His work has been turned into three books: Humans of New York, Humans of New York: Stories and Little Humans.
