Designer Nate Berkus and husband
Jeremiah Brent on Friday shared a first photo of daughter Poppy.
Less than a year after the couple
married, Berkus and Brent welcomed Poppy into their family.
Poppy Brent-Berkus was born on March 23
via surrogate.
The PEOPLE exclusive shows Brent
holding a swaddled Poppy as Berkus looks on.
“Our paternal instincts kicked in
almost instantly,” Berkus
told the magazine. “She came out with her eyes open, looking
around like she had been waiting for us.”
“I never thought I would be so
excited to be 10 inches away from a filthy diaper as I am. I live by
her diaper schedule,” he added.
Berkus, 43, currently hosts the NBC
reality show American Dream Builders, while Brent, 29, is a
designer who appeared on cabler Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project.
