In promoting her upcoming movie, Hot
Pursuit, Reese Witherspoon said she's quite accustomed to getting
attention from her lesbian fans.
In Hot Pursuit, Witherspoon
plays a cop assigned to protect the widow of a drug dealer (played by
Sofia Vergara of Modern Family). At one point in the comedy,
the women fake being a couple to escape a dangerous situation.
In an interview with Michigan gay
weekly Pride
Source, Witherspoon was asked about her lesbian following.
“I don't have to tell you that your
makeout scene in Hot Pursuit is already getting a lot of
lesbian buzz. How accustomed are you to attention from lesbians at
this point in your career?” the outlet asked.
“I have a ton of lesbian friends,”
Witherspoon answered, “and I think any kind of women who relates to
us or enjoys the movie – that's awesome.”
Vergara added: “Half of the time, I
don't know if they're lesbians. It's just normal. It's not like
they're like, 'Hi, I am a lesbian and I am a fan!'”
Hot Pursuit opens Friday, May 8.
