Deadline Hollywood on Monday reported
that premium cable network HBO is developing a comedy about three
African-American brothers, one of whom is gay.
Bros is loosely based on out
writer Ben Cory Jones' (Hand of God) real life with his two
straight brothers, according to Deadline
Hollywood.
A short pilot
presentation of the show, originally titled Bros Before Hos,
stars Dijon Talton (Glee) as Kendall, Kevin Phillips (Red
Tails) as Aidan, and Americo “Tuffy” Questell (How To Make
It In America) as Marshall.
In the pilot, Kendall is looking for
love, Aidan is trying to move on from his wife and Marshall is
resisting falling in love with a white woman.
In an interview with Indiewire,
Jones said, “Bros Before Hos isn't a black story or a gay
story – it's a story about three bothers, who happen to be black,
and one who happens to be gay.”
“It's ironic that in 2014, and even
with a black president, one of the hardest things to be in this
country right now is a young black man,” he added.
