Michael Sam, the NFL's first openly gay
player, is among the athletes helping increase awareness for the
first international study on homophobia in sports.
“Please take this survey to fight
homophobia in sports at OutOnTheFields.com,” the 24-year-old Sam

The
study, which was commissioned by organizers of The Bingham Cup,
the world cup of gay rugby, is being conducted by sports research
firm Repucom in consultation with researchers from 6 universities.
Also appearing in the video are
British-born rugby stars Sam and Tom Burgess, soccer player Sarah
Walsh, rugby player David Pocock and Australian football star Brock
McLean
In 2011, Pocock made headlines around
the world when he pledged
not to marry his fiancee until gay and lesbian couples are allowed to
marry in Australia.
