Anna Paquin, star of the HBO
supernatural drama True Blood, says she wants to make
bisexuality “boring.”
The 31-year-old Paquin first publicly
came out bisexual in a 2010 PSA for the WeGiveADamn campaign.
“I'm Anna Paquin. I'm bisexual,”
she said in the PSA. “And I give a damn.”
Paquin married her True Blood
co-star Stephen Moyer on August 21, 2010. Together they are raising
four children, including fraternal twins Charlie and Poppy born in
September 2012.
A tweet she sent last month reasserting
her bisexuality and in support of marriage equality attracted
headlines.
“Proud to be a happily married
bisexual mother,” she
messaged her more than 83,000 followers. “Marriage is about
love not gender.”
During an appearance on HuffPost Live,
Paquin was asked: “Why is it that you wanted to come out with this
openly?”
“It was Pride Week or I guess pride
Month in LA,” Paquin
responded. “There are a lot of people supporting these
assorted campaigns and it's something I feel really strongly about.
The reason I feel like it's important to talk about this stuff is
that the more normal and frankly mundane and boring [bisexuality]
becomes, I think the better it is going to be for everyone who is
part of our community.”
