Michael Rosenbaum and Sara Rue will
co-star in the TV Land comedy pilot Impastor.
Impastor is from veteran comedy
writer Christopher Vane (The Love Boat, Suddenly Susan, Wings,
Good Luck Charlie).
“It centers on a low-life on the run
from his debts who hides away in a small town by conning them into
thinking he's their newly hired gay pastor,” Deadline.com wrote
about the show's premise.
Rosenbaum, who is best known for
playing Lex Luthor on the CW's Smallville, has signed on to
play the con artist.
Rue, who most recently starred on ABC's
Malibu Country, will portray a local gossip who works for the
pastor in charge of the Lutheran Church's committee responsible for
hiring Rosenbaum's character.
Impastor
will be executive produced by Vane and Eric and Kim Tannenbaum of
Tannenbaum Co.
TV Land last year canceled
Fran Drescher's Happily
Divorced after two seasons. In the show, Drescher played a
florist who divorced her husband of 18 years after finding out he's
gay.
