Actress Kathy Bates has said she would
love to play a lesbian role opposite Uma Thurman.
Bates, who plays a gay woman in the
upcoming film Tammy (out July 2), told Michigan
gay weekly Pride Source that she thought Thurman was
“pretty cool.”
“I could see doing a movie with her
and having a lesbian relationship – although I'm much too old for
her,” she said with a laugh.
In Tammy, Bates plays Lenore, a
lesbian woman in a relationship with Susan (played by Sandra Oh of
Grey's Anatomy.)
Bates said she was “absolutely in
love with Sandra.”
“[L]et me just say that she really
brought our relationship to bloom,” Bates said. “She brought a
lot of love and warmth, and it was her idea to have wedding rings –
because of course! – which I hadn't thought about, and also, to
think that our relationship is the healthiest relationship in the
movie.”
“She brought just so much love,”
Bates added.
