In a new video for Music Choice Play, singer Adam Lambert says it was hard for him to accept his role as a representative of the gay community.

The video is one of several the multi-platform video music network has released this week in celebration of LGBT Pride.

“What's it like being an openly gay man in pop music?” the music network asked.

“You can't please everybody,” Lambert answered. “And everybody wants you to be a different thing for a different group. At the end of the day, I'm just a guy that wanted to sing and dress up in crazy clothes.”

“So, it was hard for me to accept that, like it or not, I was going to be somebody that they looked at as a figure that was representing the gay community to the rest of the public,” the American Idol alum added. (The video is embedded on this page. Visit our video library for more videos.)

Additional videos feature Jared Leto, Lance Bass, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Neon Hitch, Elvis Duran and Micah Jesse.
