Out actor Andrew Rannells will replace Neil Patrick Harris in the Broadway production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

Hedwig took home four Tony Awards on Sunday, including Best Revival of a Musical and Best Actor in a Musical for Harris.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Tony nominee Rannells (Book of Mormon), known to television audiences for playing Elijah Krantz on HBO's Girls and Bryan Collins on NBC's The New Normal, will take over playing Hedwig when the show's limited run ends on August 17 and Harris departs. Rannells, 35, has signed on for a limited eight-week engagement starting August 20.

Hedwig, which had a long off-Broadway run at New York City's Jane Street Theater and was later turned into a movie in 2001 starring John Cameron Mitchell in the title role, tells the story of a transgender rock musician's search for “my other half.”
